Media Guide

Use this guide to optimize images, videos, and other media for your fundraising site. Properly sized media improves load times and ensures your content displays correctly across devices.

Image Dimensions

Used in Hero modules, Media Galleries, and Content/Media Alternating modules.

  • Recommended size: 1920px x 1080px (16:9 ratio)
  • File size: Under 5MB for best performance

These locations showcase captivating images that set the tone for your campaign.

Module Background Images

Any module can have a background image.

  • Hero Splash modules: Match image dimensions to your desired module height (max width ~1900px)
  • Other modules: Use square images with max dimension ~1900px

Tip: Toggle the preview or view the enabled site to adjust hero module height until you achieve the desired size.

General Content Areas

Images embedded in rich text content areas.

  • Maximum width: 900px
  • Recommendation: Resize media beforehand to improve load times

Peer-to-Peer Profile Photos

Fundraiser profile images.

  • Recommended size: 400px x 400px (square)
  • File size: Under 3MB

Social Sharing Images

Images that appear when your site is shared on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.

  • Optimal size: 1200px x 630px
  • Minimum size: 600px x 315px
  • Aspect ratio: 1.91:1

Note: Images smaller than 600x315 are not allowed to ensure optimal social sharing display.

  2. Paste the URL in the media field
  3. Click "Add"

CauseVox will automatically fetch the embed link and add it to your page.

Important: Do not paste embed codes or share codes that begin with <iframe... or <embed.... Use the direct page URL only.

If you find a content provider that doesn't appear to be supported, contact support for assistance.

Social Sharing Setup

Configure how your site appears when shared on social media.

Setting Up Social Sharing

  1. Go to Site Settings > Sharing
  2. Upload a sharing image (1200x630px recommended)
  3. Enter a sharing title and description
  4. Save changes

Any social share will automatically pull from your customized content.

Facebook Sharing Tips

  • Use images at least 1200x630px for high-resolution display
  • Keep the 1.91:1 aspect ratio to avoid cropping on mobile
  • High-resolution images prevent pixelation when enlarged

Troubleshooting Social Sharing

If your image doesn't display when sharing:

  1. Facebook: Use the Facebook Sharing Debugger to refresh cached data
  2. Twitter: Use the Twitter Card Validator to test your cards

Enter your campaign URL in these tools to fetch fresh metadata.

Common Issues

  • Image too large: Shrink the image, take a screenshot, and upload the smaller version
  • Wrong aspect ratio: Platform will enlarge image to fill space, potentially causing distortion
  • Image looks distorted: Refresh the page after upload to see correct aspect ratio

Photo Editing Tools

Canva - Free design tool with templates using exact social media dimensions.

  • Free for nonprofits
  • Pre-sized templates for social sharing
  • Easy drag-and-drop interface
  • Canva for Nonprofits

Image Optimization Tips

  • Resize before uploading - Improves page load times
  • Use appropriate formats - JPEG for photos, PNG for graphics with transparency
  • Compress images - Use tools like TinyPNG or Squoosh to reduce file size
  • Check dimensions - Match recommended sizes for each location

Best Practices

Performance

  • Optimize images before upload to improve load times
  • Use appropriately sized images (don't upload 4000px images for 400px displays)
  • Compress large files without sacrificing quality

Visual Consistency

  • Use consistent image styles across your site
  • Match brand colors and photography style
  • Ensure text is readable over background images

Accessibility

  • Use high-contrast images for readability
  • Avoid text-heavy images (text won't scale on mobile)
  • Ensure important content isn't cropped at different screen sizes
