Broadcasts

A broadcast is a one-time email or SMS sent to a set of recipients you choose. Use broadcasts for newsletters, event announcements, fundraising appeals, or thank-you messages.

Lifecycle

A broadcast moves through these states:

  • Draft — you're still composing. Recipients, content, and settings can be edited freely.
  • Scheduled — locked in to send at a future time. Cancel to drop back to Draft.
  • Sending — actively being delivered. The recipient list is frozen at this point.
  • Sent — delivery is complete. Open the broadcast to see stats and delivery details.
  • Failed — sending stopped early. The error banner explains what went wrong.
  • Paused for review — held by an admin or by automatic safety checks. While a broadcast is paused for review, no other broadcasts can be created or sent in the org until the issue is resolved.

Creating a broadcast

  1. Click Create on the Broadcasts list.
  2. Pick a channel (Email or SMS).
  3. Configure the four tabs in any order:
    • Settings — name, subject, From address, scheduling
    • Recipients — who receives the broadcast
    • Content — the email layout or SMS text
    • Overview — appears once sent
  4. Click Send or Schedule.

Filtering the list

The list shows all broadcasts across both channels (Email + SMS). Use the status tabs to narrow down (Draft, Scheduled, Sent, Failed) or search by name.

TIP

Broadcasts are one-time sends. For recurring or trigger-based messages (welcome series, donation thank-you, etc.), use Audiences and automation tools instead.
