Connecting CauseVox to Zapier
Step 1: Get Your API Key
- Log in to your CauseVox admin
- Go to Organization Settings > Integrations
- Copy your API Key
Step 2: Connect in Zapier
- Log in to Zapier
- Go to My Apps from the top menu
- Click Add Connection
- Search for "CauseVox"
- Paste your API Key
- Click Continue
Available Triggers
CauseVox provides these triggers to start your Zaps:
Donation Triggers

| New Donation | Fires when a donation is created |
| Update Donation | Fires when a donation is modified |
Giving Triggers

Note: "New" and "Update" triggers should be used together to receive complete data. Initial creation may have incomplete info that gets filled in later.
Creating a Zap
Step 1: Create New Zap
- In Zapier, click Create Zap
- Search for "CauseVox" as your trigger app
- Select a trigger event (e.g., "New Donation")
Step 2: Configure Trigger
- Select your connected CauseVox account
- Test the trigger to pull sample data
- Click Continue
Step 3: Add Filter (Optional)
To limit which events trigger your Zap:
- Click the + after your trigger
- Select Filter
- Choose filter criteria:
- Campaign title
- Campaign ID
- Site URL
- Any other available field
Step 4: Add Action
- Search for your destination app (e.g., Mailchimp, Salesforce)
- Select an action (e.g., "Add Subscriber", "Create Contact")
- Connect your account for that app
- Map CauseVox fields to destination fields
Step 5: Test and Activate
- Test your Zap with sample data
- Name your Zap
- Turn it on

Working with Custom Fields
If you collect custom field data on your donation forms, you can push that data to other apps via Zapier.
Accessing Custom Fields
- In your Zap's trigger, test to pull sample data
- Custom fields appear as separate data points
- Map them to fields in your destination app
Tips for Custom Fields
- Use consistent field names across campaigns
- Test with a real donation that includes custom field data
- Custom fields are campaign-specific
Troubleshooting
No Data in Test
- Make a test donation with all fields filled out
- Ensure your API key is correct
- Check that the trigger matches your test data
Missing Fields
- Some fields only appear after testing with real data
- Use both "New" and "Update" triggers for complete data
Zap Not Firing
- Verify the Zap is turned on
- Check if filters are excluding your data
- Review Zap history for errors
