From Address & Sending Domain

The address your recipients see in the From line is built from two parts:

  • Display name — set per campaign in the From Name field.
  • Email address — built from the org's verified Sending Domain, or the platform default newsletter@mg.causevox.com when no verified domain is configured.

Three states you might see

  • Verified domain — From address shows newsletter@<your-domain>. Mail ships authenticated by DKIM with bounces routed back via your Return-Path.
  • Pending verification — your org has added a domain but hasn't completed verification. From address falls back to the platform default until DKIM and Return-Path both pass. Click Complete verification to finish setup.
  • No domain — From address uses the platform default. Click Send from your own domain to add one in Organization Settings.

Why the local-part is newsletter

For now, every campaign ships from newsletter@<domain>. We chose newsletter because it matches the existing platform default and is the convention most mailbox providers expect for bulk mail. A custom local-part (e.g. hello@, info@) may be exposed in a future update.

What happens if my domain regresses

Once a campaign is queued to send, the chosen domain is locked in. If verification regresses between compose and send (DNS records edited, domain removed, etc.), the campaign fails with a clear error rather than silently falling back to the platform default — that way the deliberate choice you made isn't undone without warning.
